Part-Time Police Dispatcher

Starting Rate: $21.71 per hour
Benefits: Eligible for New York State Employee Retirement System (NYSERS).

Shift differential available for evening and overnight shifts.

Position Summary
The Village of Greenwood Lake Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position
of Part-Time Police Dispatcher. Dispatchers serve as the critical link between the public, police
officers, fire departments, EMS personnel, and other emergency service agencies. The position
requires sound judgment, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under
pressure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.
• Dispatch police, fire, EMS, and other emergency resources as required.
• Operate radio communications equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems.
• Monitor and maintain records of calls for service and officer activity.
• Enter, retrieve, and update information in department databases.
• Assist walk-in visitors and answer general inquiries.
• Prepare and maintain logs, reports, and records.
• Monitor security cameras and department communications systems.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multitask and perform accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer and customer service skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
• Must successfully complete all required background investigations and training.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

• Previous dispatching, emergency services, customer service, or public safety experience.
• Experience working with computers and multi-line telephone systems.
• Familiarity with radio communications equipment.
• Knowledge of the Greenwood Lake community and surrounding area.
• No prior dispatching experience is required. Training will be provided to qualified candidates.
