Winter Reminders, Upcoming Events, and Community News
Greetings, Greenwood Lake!
As we continue to experience winter weather, I’d like to remind everyone about the importance of keeping our streets clear for snow removal. If inclement weather is occurring or expected, please refrain from parking on village streets. Our plows need access to every inch of road to do a thorough job, and parked cars make it difficult for them to clear snow properly. Let’s all work together to keep our streets safe and passable this winter season.
Looking ahead, the Village Election will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Greenwood Lake Senior Center. This election will include the seats for Mayor and two Trustees. It’s important to make your voice heard, so please mark your calendars and come out to vote!
In addition, I’d like to remind you that Tax Grievance Night is coming up on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Village Hall. This is an opportunity for residents to review and challenge their property assessments. If you have any questions, please be sure to stop by.
For those of you with boating plans, please check our website and Facebook pages for upcoming Boaters’ Safety Courses. As a reminder, all boat operators are now required to be licensed. Also, keep an eye out for the pre-sale of beach passes—summer is right around the corner!
The Greenwood Lake Senior Center is offering a variety of great events this winter. They host a weekly lunch at the center, as well as a monthly lunch sponsored by the Greenwood Lake Elks. For more information or to sign up, please reach out to Colleen Reilly at the Senior Center—she’ll be happy to assist you!
Lastly, please join me in congratulating Keith and Donna Garley, who have been selected as Celts of the Year by the Greenwood Lake Gaelic Cultural Society. A celebration dinner will be held on March 8th, 2025, at the American Legion at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $45 each, which includes a delicious corned beef dinner prepared by Emerald Point Restaurant, along with beer, wine, and soda. You can purchase tickets by contacting Lexi O’Rourke at 914-356-5521.
Stay warm, stay safe, and thank you for being an active part of our community!
Sincerely,
Mayor Tom Howley
